KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 (Bernama) -- Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said held a meeting with Vietnamese Minister of Justice Nguyen Hai Ninh in Hanoi yesterday, in an effort to strengthen legal cooperation between the two countries.

Azalina said that during the meeting, their discussions focused on how ASEAN can collectively strengthen and position the region as an effective and credible dispute resolution hub.

“We also exchanged views on the proposed Joint Statement by ASEAN Law Ministers and discussed effective strategies in the development of international commercial arbitration and mediation.

“In addition, other potential legal cooperation such as business law reform, online security and anti-corruption laws were also touched upon,” she said in a post on her official Facebook page, today.

Azalina also took the opportunity to officially invite Nguyen to attend the ASEAN Law Forum 2025 scheduled to be held in Kuala Lumpur this August.

She said the forum was the best platform to reaffirm ASEAN’s commitment to cooperation in legal aspects and economic integration through strong and resilient legal institutions.

“I am very moved by his positive commitment to attend,” she said.

The meeting was part of Azalina’s series of visits to ASEAN member states after Malaysia took over the ASEAN Chairmanship this year.
