K-CULTURE FESTIVAL KICKS OFF IN KUALA LUMPUR TO CELEBRATE MALAYSIA-KOREA CULTURAL TIES
KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 (Bernama) -- The K-Culture Festival 2025 will kick off here on Wednesday and will run until June 22, offering a vibrant showcase of Korean food, tourism, beauty, and music.
In a statement, the Embassy of Korea in Malaysia said the festival, themed “Feel the Vibes, Savor the Flavors, and Explore with Style”, aims to highlight the rich cultural ties woven into the everyday lives of Malaysians.
“Following the success of the inaugural event held in Terengganu in 2024, this year’s festival returns on a larger scale with more integrated programming in Kuala Lumpur.
“This festival seeks to deepen cooperation and strengthen the bonds between the two countries,” the embassy stated.
One of the highlights will be the Korea-ASEAN Music Festival, hosted by KBS WORLD and sponsored by the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF), the ASEAN Secretariat, and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts & Culture (MOTAC), which will take place from June 21 to 22. The event will feature performances by Korean and ASEAN artists, including from Malaysia, symbolising harmony and friendship through music.
Other programmes include Taste of Korea’s Finest Hanwoo (on June 11), the hosting of the Korea Tourism Roadshow by Korea Tourism Organisation (KTO) (June 11 to 15), K- Beauty Class (June 17 to 19), and the 20th Korean Speaking Contest (June 21).
Besides that, World-OKTA (Overseas Korean Traders Associations) Kuala Lumpur will offer an online discount event and a lucky draw event, while the Korean Restaurant Association in Malaysia will have the 2025 Korean Traditional Cuisine Festival from June 12 to 14.
The embassy said the festival will establish the Korean Cultural Centre in Malaysia in 2026, aiming to accelerate the spread of Korean culture.
“Malaysia is a key ASEAN country where K-pop, K-dramas, K-beauty, and Korean cuisine have become increasingly popular and integral to daily life, especially among the younger generation.
“To further support this cultural trend, the Korean Cultural Center aims to open in Malaysia in 2026 to accelerate cultural exchange,” the statement said.
The festival is a collaboration between MOTAC; the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs of the Republic of Korea (MAFRA); the Korean Education Center; the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO); the Korea Cosmetic Industry Institute (Beauty PLAY); and KBS WORLD.
