CAMBODIA 

1. BORDER AGRI TRADE ON HOLD AS TENSIONS SIMMER -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE

Border provincial officials said that Thailand will no longer permit the import of certain Cambodian agricultural products, including vegetables, fruits, chilli, mangoes, and fresh and dried cassava. The ban comes amid prevailing border tensions between both nations. 

 

2. READY TO WELCOME RETURNING MIGRANT WORKERS -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE 

The government has announced it is prepared to welcome potential Cambodian migrant workers returning from Thailand following a diplomatic spat. Authorities will facilitate border crossing, provide temporary shelter,  and food and transport them to their respective provinces.

1. KPK CONSIDERS FORCED SUMMONS FOR SINGAPOREAN JET TYCOON IN PAPUA GRAFT PROBE -- JAKARTA GLOBE

Indonesia’s anti-graft agency is considering forcibly summoning Singapore-based private jet entrepreneur Gibbrael Isaak after he failed to appear for questioning over the alleged purchase of a jet using Rp 1.2 trillion (US$73 million) in embezzled Papua provincial funds.

 

2. TWO AUSTRALIANS SHOT IN BALI VILLA, ONE DEAD -- ANTARA

Two Australian nationals were shot by an unidentified assailant inside a villa in Badung, Bali, in the early hours of Saturday, according to local police. Badung Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner (AKBP) M. Arif Batubara, said the victims, identified by their initials ZR and SG, were both staying at the same villa.

 

MYANMAR

1. CENTRAL BANK ALERTS FINANCIAL FRAUD -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

The Central Bank of Myanmar is alerting on combating financial fraud and money laundering. Online scams, public awareness of laundering and financing of terrorism, and financial institutions’ strategies to avoid them from being used as intermediaries were highlighted at a workshop. 

 

2. LAOTIAN WOLF SNAKE DISCOVERED IN MYANMAR -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

A new species of Laotian wolf snake (Lycodon laoensis) has been found in Myanmar. There are 81 species of wolf snake worldwide and of which 11 have been recorded in Myanmar. They are commonly found in Southeast Asia. 

 

VIETNAM

1. VIETNAM-INDONESIA TO EMPOWER DIGITAL SECTOR -- VIETNAMPLUS

Vietnam’s FPT Corporation has established a strategic cooperation with Indonesia's Ministry of National Development Planning to promote the digital sector. Both countries will focus on national digital transformation, artificial intelligence, green technology, smart cities, digital economy strategies and talent development.

 

2. TAPPING INDIAN SOFT POWER TO PROMOTE DIPLOMACY -- VIETNAMPLUS

The Son La province is hosting the Indian Film Festival from June 13 to 15, which will boast tourism and the entertainment sectors of both countries. Vietnam and India’s relations are rooted in cultural ties through Buddhism, yoga, cinema, dance and music.
