MALAYSIA, AUSTRALIA REAFFIRM STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP COMMITMENT

KUALA LUMPUR, July 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Australia have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties under the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, pledging closer cooperation in key areas including economic, educational, agricultural and institutional capacity-building.

According to a Facebook posting by Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry, the matter was discussed during a bilateral meeting between Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan and his Australian counterpart Penny Wong on the sidelines of the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM) and related meetings on Thursday.

Both sides also looked forward to the convening of the 4th Malaysia-Australia Senior Officials’ Strategic Dialogue, the 7th Malaysia-Australia Annual Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the 3rd Malaysia-Australia Annual Leaders’ Meeting, all scheduled to take place this year.

Australia, ASEAN’s first Dialogue Partner and one of its Comprehensive Strategic Partners, is also celebrating 70 years of diplomatic presence in Malaysia.

The 58th AMM and related meetings are taking place under Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship for 2025, with the theme “Inclusivity and Sustainability”.
