BRIDGESTONE ASEAN AMATEUR TOUR READY TO TEE OFF ACROSS ASIA NEXT YEAR
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- The Bridgestone ASEAN Amateur Open 2025 has officially concluded its exciting 12-leg season with a spectacular Grand Final at the Templer Park Country Club championship course, where champions from each tournament leg gathered to compete for top honours in one of the region’s most established amateur golf series.
After an intense day on the fairways under the sweltering afternoon heat on Saturday, Ong Pok Wen was crowned Nett Champion, a remarkable achievement as he was also the Nett Champion during the Templer Park qualifying leg held earlier on July 11.
Imran Marzuki delivered an impressive performance to secure the title of Gross Champion, finishing the day with a strong score of 77, thus continuing the momentum from his earlier Gross title triumph at the IOI Palm Villa Golf & Country Resort leg, which served as the final stop before the Grand Final.
Apart from the group of champions, eight journalists from the print and broadcast media, including Bernama, The Star, Utusan Malaysia, NST, Berita Harian, Madani News, Kosmo Digital, laid down their tools to compete in the Guest category, which featured a total of 90 players.
Bernama’s Jaiarajo Letchumanan emerged as the Hole-In-One Grand Prize winner and walked away with an IROAS brand watch worth RM3,564, while Mohd Hasriq Amiruddin from The Star finished in fifth spot.
Now in its ninth year, the Bridgestone ASEAN Amateur Open continues to expand its reach and impact across the region.
“From Malaysia to Singapore, Brunei, Vietnam, India and beyond, this tour has brought together passionate golfers who share a love for competition, integrity, and fellowship. As we look forward to celebrating our 10th anniversary next year, we are committed to making the Bridgestone ASEAN Amateur Open bigger, better, and even more engaging for the regional golfing community,” said Vasudevan Krishnan, managing director of Prestige Golf Sdn Bhd, the official regional partner of Bridgestone Golf.
“A special thank you as well to Tourism Malaysia, our presenting sponsor, the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) and Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) for your continued support and belief in promoting golf tourism in Malaysia,” he added.
The prestigious finale was attended by key partners and distinguished guests, including Yuichi Wada, vice president of the Overseas Business Division at Bridgestone Sports Co Ltd, and Shin Yongwoo, managing director of SOKIO Corporation - the largest distributor of Bridgestone Golf. Also present were sponsors and partners, club representatives from all hosting venues throughout the season, as well as members of the media.
