TAWAU, Oct 1 -- Kalabakan Wanita UMNO chief Chaya Sulaiman has denied that she intends to ditch UMNO, which is the backbone of the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, very soon, as has been viralled on social media.
Chaya. who was the BN candidate for the Kukusan seat in the 16th Sabah state state election on Saturday (Sept 26), when contacted, said she was aware of the matter (the viral message about her quitting UMNO/BN on social media).
“Since yesterday, I and six other committee members (of the Kalabakan UMNO division) have been inundated with calls asking us whether we are exiting UMNO and Barisan Nasional, no idea who and where they got this from,”she said.
She said that she is currently on 14-day COVID-19 home quarantine and was awaiting the test results.
The viral message also claimed that her defeat in the contest by a 10-vote margin to Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) candidate Rina Jainal could have been due to internal Sabatoge.
Rina polled 2,834 votes.
