KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 8 (Bernama) -- A reunion between Malaysia’s Rio 2016 Olympic Games men’s doubles silver medallists Tan Wee Kiong and Goh V Shem is not on the cards, as the former remains fully committed to his current partner Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub.

The speculation arose after Wee Kiong and Nur Mohd Azriyn became the latest shuttlers to sign with Malaysia’s homegrown badminton brand (FELET), which also has V Shem under its roster.

“At the moment, there’s no plan for that. Although we’re both under FELET now, my partnership with Azriyn has been going very smoothly.

“I’m grateful for the sponsor’s trust and support. We’ll continue to work hard and aim for even better results in upcoming tournaments,” Wee Kiong said in a statement today.

V Shem-Wee Kiong claimed silver in Rio 2016 after going down to China’s Fu Haifeng-Zhang Nan 21-16, 11-21, 21-23.

The former world number one duo split in August 2021.

The 36-year-old Wee Kiong formed a partnership with Nur Mohd Azriyn in 2023, while V Shem is currently playing with his South Korean partner, Choi Sol Gyu.
