PAS to campaign for allies in Sabah - Tuan Ibrahim

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 14 -- PAS will activate its machinery to help candidates of Perikatan Nasional (PN) and PAS’ allies contesting in the 16th Sabah state election, said party deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.

"Although not contesting in this election, the PAS machinery will still be helping out to ensure that every candidate (of our allies) wins,” said the Environment and Water Minister, who will launch the PAS election machinery in Kota Kinabalu tomorrow night.

Met by reporters after a special meeting of his ministry and the Home Ministry here today, Tuan Ibrahim said the PAS machinery will be deployed in 20 divisions in Sabah, involving about 2,000 members in Sabah and reinforcements from the peninsula.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang had said that the party respected the decision of its allies in Sabah to contest in all the 73 state constituencies after seat negotiations were completed.

As a result, PAS is staying out of the polls although it is part of PN.

Polling for the state election will be held on Sept 26.
