SANDAKAN, Sept 25 -- Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today reminded all voters in Sabah to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOP) to curb the spread of COVID-19 during the polling for the state election tomorrow.

He also advised the voters to go to the polls according to the timebands recommended by the Election Commission (EC).

“My advice for the voters tomorrow, please practice self-control and comply with the SOP set by the EC.

“Don’t forget to bring face mask, observe physical distancing, use hand sanitiser and check body temperature,” he told reporters after presenting the Pingat Jasa Malaysia medal to Armed Forces veterans here today.

Ismail Sabri also advised all election workers appointed by contesting parties to follow the SOP.

The minister also encouraged all returnees, including from Sabah, to take the COVID-19 swab test as a safety measure.

As of yesterday, Sabah has recorded the highest number of new COVID-19 cases at 63, bringing the total to 1,386 cases recorded in the state.

Meanwhile, 85 Armed Forces veterans received the medal today for their services in fighting the insurgents from the Malayan Communist Party between 1969 and 1989 or the North Kalimantan Communist Party from 1969 to 1970.
