KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 -- The win by Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in the Sabah election yesterday is proof of the people's support and confidence for GRS to helm the state’s administration.

Therefore, the victory by GRS in 38 of the 73 state seats in Sabah should be translated by implementing the mandate given by the people to develop the state.

PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang reminded candidates who won in the election to discharge their responsibilities as elected representatives as expected for the goof of the religion, race and country.

He said PAS would continue to be committed to its role in jointly strengthening unity and safeguarding the welfare of the people.

“Congratulations to GRS which is by Perikatan Nasional (PN), Barisan Nasional (PN) and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) for their victory in the Sabah election. To the voters, thank you for the trust given,” he said on Facebook.

In TERENGGANU,  Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar described the victory by GRS as a manifestation of the Sabah people’s confidence in PN to administer better at the federal level,  and the candidates, whom they felt are more capable and competent  than the other contenders.

In PAHANG, Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, through a statement on his Facebook,  said the results of yesterday’s Sabah election reflected the support of the people of Sabah for GRS to bring progress and development to the state.

“The mandate given by the people is a huge responsibility for GRS leaders in their efforts to restore the state and bring sustainable development for the benefit of all the people," he said.

In KELANTAN, Kelantan Menteri Besar Kelantan Datuk Ahmad Yakob, through his Facebook posting, said the win showed the confidence and trust of the people of Sabah for GRS which is led by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“I believe the new government that will be formed soon is a stable government to safeguard the harmony and well-being of the people of Sabah. Congratulations to all elected representatives," he said and also expressed his appreciation to the PAS machinery for helping in the election campaign.

In NEGERI SEMBILAN, BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, who is also UMNO deputy president hoped all parties respect the decision made by the people of Sabah so that the state government that will be formed will be more stable.

“To those who won, it’s time for them to start work. Do not procrastinate anymore and discharge your responsibilities as an elected representatives well. To those who lost, may we continue to celebrate the spirit of democracy,” he said in a statement on his Facebook.

Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Khairy Jamaluddin, who is also Rembau UMNO deputy chief, said the GRS cooperation in the PRN should be made the basis and model for a better cooperation at the national level between BN and PN, especially to face the 15th General Election.

“The people of Sabah have spoken. To the winners, discuss carefully in the selection for the post of  (new) Chief Minister. To those who lost, accept the results,” he added.

In MELAKA, its Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali said the victory by GRS proved that the people of Sabah wanted GRS to form the state government.

Meanwhile, in KUALA LUMPUR,  Amanah deputy president Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub described the performance of the Warisan Plus coalition which won 32 seats in the Sabah election as a good achievement despite not being able to form a state government.

In KEDAH, Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said the results of the Sabah election showed that the Sabah people had confidence in the federal government led by Muhyiddin.

In PERAK, Parti Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Gerakan) president Datuk Dr Dominic Lau said the victory by GRS in Sabah reflected the level of maturity of the people in the state.

Yesterday, the Election Commission (EC) announced that GRS, comprising PN, BN, and PBS won 38  of the 73 state seats,   while Warisan Plus (consisting of Warisan, DAP, Amanah, UPKO and PKR) with 32 state seats, and the remaining three seats were won by the Independent candidates.
