INDONESIA

 

1.BSI TO HOST INTERNATIONAL EXPO AS INDONESIA AIMS TO LEAD GLOBAL HALAL INDUSTRY -- JAKARTA GLOBE

State-owned Islamic bank, Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), will host its flagship international expo as the country steps up efforts to become a global leader in the halal industry. The 2025 BSI International Expo, themed “Engaging Indonesia in the Global Halal Industry”, will take place on June 26-29 at the Jakarta Convention Centre.

 

 2.TWO INDONESIANS ARRESTED IN LA IMMIGRATION RAIDS -- THE JAKARTA POST

Two Indonesian nationals were arrested during a recent wave of immigration raids in Los Angeles, the United States, the Foreign Ministry confirmed, adding that consular officials are actively coordinating with local authorities to provide assistance to the detainees.

1.TOP LAO PRODUCTS TO IMPROVE RURAL LIVELIHOODS -- VIENTIANE TIMES

The Ministry of Industry and Commerce and PTT (Lao) Co Ltd have launched the “Top Lao Products” initiative to promote socio-economic growth. It includes the One District-One Product concept, a strategy to encourage producers to improve production processes, design and packaging.

 

2.NATIONAL CARRIER MULLS SELLING MAJORITY STAKE -- VIENTIANE TIMES

Lao is considering the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Ltd’s proposal to acquire a majority stake in its national carrier Lao Airlines. The Chinese aircraft manufacturer and Lao Airlines signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the joint venture last October.

 

MYANMAR

 

1.ASEAN EMERGENCY RICE FOR VICTIMS --  THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

The ASEAN Plus Three Emergency Rice Reserve delivered 1,610 metric tonnes of rice yesterday to assist communities affected by the March 28 earthquake. The pre-positioned stockpiled under the Tier 3 programme were donated by South Korea and China.  

 

2. TWO MILLION METRIC TONNES PULSES FOR EXPORTS -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

Planters plan to export two million metric tonnes of various pulses in the 2025-2026 financial year. Myanmar exported 2.14 million tonnes of various pulses, mainly exports of black gram, green gram and pigeon peas, in the previous financial year.

 

VIETNAM

 

1.VIETNAM-FRANCE ENJOYING MULTI-FACETED TIES  - VIETNAM PLUS

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said bilateral ties with France are on an “upward trajectory.” Both governments agreed to expand cooperation in defence and security, peacekeeping, disaster relief, science and technology, energy and transportation. 

 

2.OVER 100,000 NEW BUSINESS REGISTERED SINCE JANUARY -  VIETNAM PLUS

About 22,400 businesses entered the market every month on average, while a similar number exited, reflecting a business environment full of potential and challenges. Nearly 111,800 newly established and reactivated enterprises were recorded in the first five months of 2025.
